-------------------------------------------------------------- Can you try illustratng the final scene of "Eater"? -------------------------------------------------------------- Wow- what an ending! I've been trying to draw something for it all week, but I suck at drawing! lol I want you to know that I am working... Did you want a hand drawn illustration or something more abstract/graphic/computer generated. L ---------------------------------------------------------------- Honestly I dunno. This sort of thing is all new to me, but I was inspired to ask you by the pictures of the Norns you did, which were computer generated, I guess?. Something very vague, full of black fire, white fire, black fractal darting trees three times her height, confused shapes of machinery, the loom of incoming armoured men, and in the middle, her - trying to stay erect, with blood "all down her breast and flank" - the only human color in all that black and white. It doesn't have to be detailed. Um. Don't worry if nothing comes out - I am more than grateful for a chance to show my writing off to an intelligent reader. If you don't feel inspired, drop it, with my thanks (but I'd like to see anything ou have done, even incomplete). The SMS gallery might interest you. Takes a while to load. Click on the pics and there is a bonus of some e-mail background discussion. http://home.clara.net/andywrobertson/nightart5.html ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------- Did you recieve the 6 pictures? Huh? Huh? Didya? Well? ~L ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- Got it! The first set of pix is very much what I see in my mind's eye - and of them the least blurry one (NIGHT3.gif) is the best. The one thing that doesn't quite work is the blood. The picture without that is neo-realistic: it could be what someone there sees. But that one drop of blood is obviously using a different level of abstraction - it's not what you would see, it's a symbol saying "there is blood here". IMHO this doesn't quite work - it is demanding the viewer use different visual language for the different parts of the pic. Can you maybe redo night3 with the blood more realistically? One more MINOR point, I think the tree should be more distorted, if that is possible. It looks really good but it is still just a teeny bit too "tree-like". The fringe area is fine, but about 33% more wow and fuffle (or whatever you artists call it ) in the central regions, to disguise this. The second set don't work so well for me. The backgrounds are great, but both the human figures look too purely symbolical. In particular the armour is wrong - it should recall a space suit not a C15 casque. The historical referent anchors this too much to our time - this is AD 17,000,000 after all Basically night3.gif is very close to it. But my ideal would be to redo night3 with the blood "realistic" - not too OTT, not a lot of blood, but realistically, just so they can see there is blood there, but soaked in to cloth so it is not pure blood red but dirtied - the "white, black, red" image[*] - and perhaps with some of the excellent machinery you have used as background in the second sequence incorporated as a deep background (but this is not important). [*] Also from Snow White and The Exile of the Sons of Uisliu __________________ -------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Haha, the blood in that one is my favorite part. I was trying to say "there is blood here" since the whole thing is very symbolic. No problem though, I will rework them today. Better blood, fuzzier tree and more machinery, my liege! Dutifully off to work, L -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
